more than just a nuisance?

“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”, famously said by Albert Einstein.

The saying may be overblown but it turns out bees do more than most people realize—for such small, short-lived creatures, they do a lot of heavy lifting to keep life on Earth in balance. They make a third of our nutritious fruits and vegetables possible, and they function as a buzzing alarm system for our planet's ecosystem.
Basically, bees are magical fuzzy little flower-hopping life-bringers. And guess what? Bees are in trouble.
Seemingly healthy bees were simply abandoning their hives en masse, never to return and this phenomenon is called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).

A world without bees is unimaginable. We won't let it happen. We support our buzzing friends with many wonderful projects that promote honeybee health and sustainable agriculture. This year, Burt’s Bees shows its support with the “Save the Honeybees” Campaign in the Asia Region with a tailor-made Wide Recipes dedicated to the world’s rapidly declining bee population.

As part of our Save the Honeybees initiative, Burt's Bees is introducing Wild Recipes: a gastronomical celebration of our industrious, indispensable insect friends, without which our favorite meals would simply not be possible.
No one knows food better than chefs. And no one knows bees better than beekeepers. So who better to represent Wild Recipes than beekeeping chefs? That's why we collaborated with the Chef whose restaurant serves dishes prepared with ingredients picked fresh from the garden to create these delicious, bee-friendly recipes. Celebrate bees and the abundance they bring with a picnic or a potluck in their honor.

More recipes in our Wild For Bees cookbook available in our stores. XX per cent of the proceeds of the Wild Recipes will be donated to XXX, organization dedicated exclusively to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems.
